Injection Mold Set-Up (Plastic) Apprenticeship

Injection molding machine technicians are responsible for the setup and operation of equipment to produce parts by injecting materials (like plastic) into a cavity and turning the molded pieces into usable parts for a variety of industries, such as automotive. In this apprenticeship, learners will examine topics relating to electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, math and automation. In addition, injection mold setup classes will include the study of schematic print reading, quality control, mold drawing, injection mold design, plastic materials, plastics processes, and part/process troubleshooting. Knowledge, skills and abilities which support job duties and tasks associated with troubleshooting and maintenance of injection molding equipment and components are emphasized in this program.
